Every once in awhile, I have the happy surprise of booking a wedding at the last minute. While I typically really get to know my couples before they say “I do,” for these short notice celebrations I get to take even more of a journalistic role as I document their big day. It is so much fun!
As you might have guessed, Melinda and Alex’s wedding was one of these later bookings, and I was shooting their nuptials about a week after meeting them. Have you ever seen such a gorgeous wedding? I was completely blown away.
Let me set the scene for you a bit. It was a hot night (July in Oklahoma, are there any other options?!) when the couple and their loved ones gathered at The Pointe in McAlester to pledge their forevers to one another. The bride wore a lovely white lace gown, and the groom and his attendants (including his son) were in grey. The bridesmaids (including Melinda’s daughter) wore the most creamy shade of blush and the florals – you guys, these florals – they pulled the whole look together.
Melinda and Alex chose to forego a first look, instead letting Alex get the first glimpse of his bride as she walked toward him for their outdoor ceremony. There is something special about getting to see that moment on a man’s face, for me as an artist, that doesn’t get old. Alex caught me watching him though and quickly pulled it together.
The reception tablescapes and decor were straight out of a pinterest dream board. There were tons of gorgeous blush flowers, lush greenery, and gold accents that were the cherry on the top. The more formal look of the gold cutlery, cake stand, and accents were perfectly paired with the rustic, romantic feel of the venue. The Pointe really was a shining star for this happy couple!
Melinda and Alex, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your big day! I’m so honored to have captured this gorgeous moment in time for your family. Congratulations!
